Teaching English in Korea

The Korean immigration system has very specific guidelines you need to meet in order to qualify for an entry permit.
Below are the requirements for an E-2 visa. This is the visa you'll need to teach English in Korea, either at a public, private or international school.
These are the mandatory requirements for all school types:
- Be a citizen of one of the following countries:
- United States
- Canada
- United Kingdom
- Australia
- New Zealand
- Ireland
- South Africa
- Hold a three or four year bachelors degree with an accredited university. The degree can be in any discipline.
- Be under 55 years old (private Schools will take applications from people older than 55)
- Be mentally and physically healthy
- Have a good command of English
These are additional requirements only applicable to the EPIK program (public schools):
- Received schooling in one of the country's listed above since 7th grade.
- Lived in an English country (one of the seven listed above) for at least 10 years.
- If you're Korean and under 35, you need to have completed your military service.
Disclaimer: These things change all the time and while I try my best to keep the requirements updated, I can't guarantee its accuracy. The 'Entry requirements section on the EPIK website is a safe backup to make sure you've got the latest info.
